Issues regarding grml 1.1-heise

You found a bug in the heise-release of grml 1.1 (being a release candidate for grml 1.1) not yet mentioned on this page? Please report it via grml.org/bugs/! (Please don't forget to add your name and mailadress so we contact you if we have further questions.) The grml-team will add bug-reports (plus their possible fixes) to this page then. Please do not add bug reports (especially without contact information) on this page, thanks.

Some general problems

Some software is missing!

  • Due to StGB Para 202c the software selection of grml 1.1-heise had to be reduced. The following packages are missing on grml 1.1-heise: aircrack-ng, airsnort, crack, crack-common, cracklib-runtime, fcrackzip, grml-sectools, hydra, ike-scan, john, libwhisker-perl, nikto, ophcrack, rainbowcrack, sucrack, wapiti.

Some bootoptions do not work as expected

  • grml is based on a completely new framework named grml-live which allows building the grml-ISO with one single command. Some few bootoptions do not completely work as expected (due to a new toolchain in the initial booting sequence), if you think you found such a bootoption please let us know.

some PCMCIA WLAN cards don't work out of the box

  • Deprecated pcmcia-cs was removed starting with grml 0.6. pcmciautils is state-of-the-art and also used at grml. Some kernel drivers (like for example PCMCIA WLAN cards) are not autoloaded by default anymore now. They should work anyway by loading the module manually. Run for example 'hwinfo –netcard' to figure out which network module has to be loaded. (Some more information regarding the device is available via for example 'udevinfo -a -p /sys/class/net/eth0/').
